On Thursday, October 29, 2009, Ken Mikos and Cheri Smith will present a preconference workshop about the newly printed ASL I text: Signing Naturally Units 1-6 in Grand and Canyon Rooms in the Conference Center at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & SPA from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM. DawnSignPress sponsors this workshop.

Please note: The DawnSign Press preconference workshop is already FULL. If you are still interested, please contact Chair Geraldine Francini as soon as possible. If you want to attend this preconference workshop, you would be placed on the waiting list.

In the afternoon from 1:30 to 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 29, Jason E. Zinza will give a preconference workshop on Preview Master ASL! Level 2: Task Based Learning in Action sponsored by Sign Media Inc., free of charge in Grand and Canyon Rooms. Seating is limited. Please visit www.aslta.org and click CONFERENCE and then PRE-CONFERENCE to fill out the workshop application form by July 1, 2009.

FLASH NEWS! During the Thursday evening reception, Dr. Carol Padden, Professor of Communication at the University of California at San Diego, and Ms. Flavia Fleischer, Assistant Professor of ASL & Deaf Studies at Utah Valley University will make a keynote doubleheader. Dr. Lawrence Fleischer, Chair and Professor of Deaf Studies at CSUN will be our third keynote speaker the workshop session on Saturday afternoon.

A directory of conference workshop titles and presenters will be posted on the ASLTA web site in early June.

GOOD NEWS! Approximately 135 people have registered for the ASLTA 2009 Conference. Encourage fellow ASLTA members and friends to attend the stimulating conference.

Bundles of thanks go to Leslie Greer, former ASLTA president, for manning the ASLTA 2009 booth exhibit at the Pomona DeafNation EXPO on Saturday, May 2.
